Family Day: Visual Poetry

Tuesday 20 October 2009, 2-4pm
Limerick City Gallery of Art, Carnegie Building, Pery Square, Limerick

Fun-filled Autumn Family Days continue with Visual Poetry! Children of all ages will visit the exciting Noughties but Nice exhibition, identifying words they would use to describe the works they encounter such as Andrew Kearney’s five metre high, light-pulsing orb or Seamus Nolan’s life-scale police transit van fabricated in recycled cardboard.  Using these descriptions, we will re-imagine artworks in the exhibition through drawing and collage.

Family Days examine many ways of making art, allowing children to experiment with new and exciting ways of making through drawing, painting, collage and sculpture. Mummies, Daddies, Grannies or Uncles are all welcome to join in!

Workshops are facilitated by LCGA staff and on a voluntary basis by local artists. Family Days are free; booking is recommended.  Please note children must be accompanied.

The Visual Poetry workshop at LCGA is part of Cuisle Poetry Festival.
