Understanding your Accounts: Do you know how much you spent on making art last year?  Do you know how much money you made from your practice?  Do you hate the task of keeping financial records and making tax returns?  Do you have difficulty in making sense of the financial aspects of your work?  Participants will come away from this workshop with practical tools for better financial management including an understanding of cash flow, keeping accounts and how best to integrate budgeting and finance into the day-to-day management of their practice.  The workshop has been designed specifically to be relevant to the financial realities faced by artists.

Gaby Smyth is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and is principal of Gaby Smyth & Company, Chartered Accountants & Registered Auditors. The firm has been in practice for almost 15 years, specialising in the music, film and theatre arts. He is currently on the board of the Dublin Theatre Festival and the Dublin International Film Festival, and is chairman of the Irish section of Amnesty International.

As places are limited early booking is advised.  To ensure a place on any of these workshops it is essential that you book by email in advance and forward payment on to confirm your booking.  Should you wish to cancel a workshop booking, notice should be provided at least 5 working days prior to the workshop date so your place can be reallocated. Refunds will not be given for late cancellations in any circumstances. Cheques and postal order should be made payable to Visual Artists Ireland and VAI can accept credit or debit card payments over the phone.
