VAI Workshop: Working with Public and Private Galleries

Visual Artists Ireland will offer a workshop on Working with Public and Private Galleries , in association with Limerick City Gallery of Art, with Jerome Ó Drisceoil, Director of Red on Green Gallery and Éllis Lavelle, Gallery Manager at Mermaid Arts Centre.

10.30 – 1.00pm Jerome Ó Drisceoil will cover remit of private galleries, his curatorial perspective, and how a private gallery selects its artists and balances its curatorial approach with commercial concerns.

14.00 – 3.00pm In Conversation cross-over session, looking at difference between public and private galleries.

15.00 – 5.30pm  Eilis Lavelle will discuss the remit of public venues, addressing how to research, target, approach galleries and make proposals, emphasizing clarity of the artist’s intention and expected outcomes for an exhibition.

55 euro for Visual Artists Ireland Members / 60 euro for non members. Places are limited early booking is advised.  To ensure a place book by email in advance and forward payment on to confirm your booking.  Should you wish to cancel, notice should be at least 5 working days prior to the workshop date. Refunds will not be given for late cancellations in any circumstances. Cheques and postal order should be made payable to Visual Artists Ireland and VAI can accept credit or debit card payments over the phone.
