Eames Studio Limerick, Eamon O'Kane a 2009

YOUNG e v+ a programme invite you and your family to drop in on Tuesday 14th or Thursday 16th April for an hour to explore Eamon O'Kanes 'Eames Studio Limerick'. This work, in the former LIT/Limerick School of Art and Design building on George’s Quay, is a resource archive about the development of architecture and design. Through films, drawing and building activities children will explore the Interactive Research Studio discovering ways of thinking and constructing.

Eamon O’Kane's 'Eames Studio Limerick' is an accessible workspace for children where many toys, shapes and drawing tools are available for them to explore their creativity. The well renowned designer Charles Eames was educated using the Froebel method of teaching, (a precursor to Montessori methods) which involved using blocks and essential shapes as early learning tools. Froebel's philosophy of education rested on four basic ideas: free self expression, creativity, social participation, and motor expression. This scale model of the Eames Studio and House contains a resource archive including films, drawings, books and a broad selection of Froebel toys.

Drop in at leisure, booking is not necessary.
