ev+a is delighted to announce that Woodrow Kernohan has been appointed as Director of ev+a, exhibition of visual art. Woodrow will take up his position on Monday 12th September and will be based in the newly renovated Limerick City Gallery of Art.

Woodrow Kernohan, born in Belfast in 1975, has previously worked in the UK as Director of Brighton Photo Fringe; Director of Permanent Gallery, Brighton; and Exhibitions Coordinator at The Regency Town House, Hove.

Woodrow said of his appointment: “I am looking forward to joining ev+a to oversee the next phase of its development. With its strong heritage ev+a has become established as Ireland’s leading open exhibition of contemporary art, combining both international respect and local relevance. ev+a creates platforms for artists to experiment and opportunities for audiences to engage with the best of international contemporary art. I am looking forward to supporting the appointed Curator in creating innovative exhibitions and events that animate the city of Limerick.”

After a year of absence in 2011 ev+a will return for its 35th anniversary in 2012. Based at the redeveloped Limerick City Gallery of Art, Woodrow Kernohan will work closely with stakeholders, partner organisations and local artist-led initiatives to support the appointed Curator in creating opportunities for Irish and international artists to experiment with ideas and create new works.

ev+a is in the process of appointing the Curator for 2012 and will announce this appointment in due course.

On Monday 19 September 2011, Woodrow will open Transformative Conversations, the showcase of the inaugural Masters in Social Practice and the Creative Environment (MA SPACE) at LSAD Gallery, Clare Street Campus at 6pm.
