The Arts Council and Limerick City Council reception

Monday 4 July 2011
Istabraq Hall, Merchants Quay, Limerick

On Monday 4 July, a reception co-hosted by the Arts Council and Limerick City Council - its key partner in providing for and developing the arts in the city – took place at Istabraq Hall, LCGA's off-site venue and was attended by representatives from the arts and business communities.  The Arts Council is in Limerick for two days to hold plenary meetings to consider important policy work in emerging areas like the creative and cultural industries, alongside regular business.

The Council was welcomed by newly-elected Mayor of Limerick, Jim Long, and speeches were given by Ms. Pat Moylan, Chairman of the Arts Council and Ms. Mary Cloake, Director of the Arts Council, highlighting the achievements of arts and cultural organisations in the city.  Ms. Cloake said: "There is an immense amount of good work being done in the arts in Limerick, and we see a deep commitment to nurture and develop the arts. We in the Arts Council look forward to continuing our work in close partnership with the local authorities to realise that commitment.”
