CHILDREN & FAMILIES

CRAFTTERNOONS - Saturdays @ 12 – 1 pm in the HUB

Jan 26th; Feb 2nd & 9th; March 9th; April 13th & 20th; May 4th, 11th & 25th; June 15th & 22nd

Suitable for children aged 4 – 12 yrs, and must be accompanied by an Adult for the duration of the workshop. First come first served basis, no booking required.

Perennially popular and free, family art workshops continue in 2013 to enable children and adults to explore the exhibitions together by creating their own artworks.

EASTER CHILDRENS ART WORKSHOPS @12 – 1pm in the HUB

Monday 25th – Thursday 28th March @12 – 1pm

Suitable for children aged 4- 12 yrs, must be accompanied by an Adult for the duration of the workshop. First Come first Service, No booking required.

EASTER LEAVING CERT ART HISTORY & APPRECIATION REVISIONS @ 2.30- 4.30pm

Monday 25th – Thursday 28th March @ 2.30- 4.30pm

Intensive focus sessions with experienced tutors revising key aspects of the Leaving Cert Art History Appreciation examination.

NATIONAL DRAWING DAY – Saturday 18TH MAY

To celebrate National Drawing Day, artist & teacher Amanda Milne will facilitate three innovative workshops for children, young adults and adults in Hub throughout the day.

Children's Workshops @ 11-12pm; Suitable for children aged 4 – 12 yrs, and must be accompanied by an Adult for the duration of the workshop. First come first served basis, no booking required.

Youth Animation Workshop @ 12.30-2pm; Learn how to connect your drawings with stop motion animation and watch you images spring to life. Places limited.

Adult Life Drawing workshop @3-4.30pm; Adults of all abilities are invited to reconnect with drawing by exploring line, colour and tone using a variety of grounds and mediums. Experienced tutor, model and materials provided. Places limited.

YOUTH & SCHOOL

'O2 THINK BIG' Youth Urban Art Project – Tuesday 2nd & Friday 5th April @ 2.30 - 4pm

Following the success of LCGA's 'Make a Move' youth graffiti workshops in 2012, we have teamed up with O2's Think Big Youth Mental Health initiative to provide free urban art workshops with top international and local graffiti artists.

Youth 'Creative Space' Workshops

'Makerspacers' have been popping up across the country as open, relaxed and fun places to develop new creative skills. Amanda Milne will facilitate pop up 'Creative Spaces' in the Hub where you can get involved in different quirky arty and tech-y activities and chill with friends.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SEMINARS

PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS: 'Response Notebooks in the Primary School Visual Art Curriculum' Thursday 28th February @ 6-7.60pm in the Hub

Following a successful collaboration with Mary Immaculate College and artists Connolly/Cleary as part of their 2012 exhibition 'Hall of Mirrors' in LCGA, Lecturer and artist Anne Marie Morrin will lead a free workshop and discussion session for Primary School Teachers exploring the use of 'response notebooks' as a learning tool in the Visual Arts Curriculum.

Free life drawing sessions, facilitated by Limerick Figure Drawing Society, welcomes students and adults of all levels of drawing ability. All materials and clothed model provided. Practical drawing sessions will be preceded by a short guided tour of examples in the current exhibitions and the Permanent Collection for drawing inspiration.
