The RTE Contempo Quartet perform the Beethoven Cycle Programme 1 featuring the Beethoven Quartet in F major, Op. 18, No. 1, Brian Boydell’s Quartet No. 1, Beethoven Quartet in F major, Op. 59, No. 1

artSpace – workshops for 5 to 12 years olds at 10.30 – 11.30am (ages 5 to 8) and 1- 2pm (ages 9 to 12)

Join us for a special Culture Night 2017 with our current exhibitions HEADLAND by Elizabeth Magill and LANDMARKS AND LIFEFORMS by Frieda Meaney & Danny Osborne, the evening will also feature a concert by the fabulous duo the Mysterious Mr Valentine, in association with Limerick Jazz Festival concert from 6.30-7.30pm.

 

Wednesday 27th September at 10.30 am

Discovery 1 – explore our two exhibitions, Headland and Landmarks and Landforms, with artists Pauline Goggin and Sinead Dineen who lead us on a walk in the park.   Follow this, at 11.30, exploring both exhibitions in the galleries and pen personal responses to the work and walk, facilitated by Pauline and Sinead.

Quartet in G major, Op.18, No. 2, Raymond Deane’s Quartet VI (new RTÉ commission) and the Beethoven Quartet in E minor, Op. 59, No. 2  - *Tickets at the Door €10/€8 

 

Friday 6th October at 1.00pm

In keeping with the exhibitions Head Lands and Landmarks & Lifeforms, join award winning Cantoral under Director Catherins Sergeant for a wonderful choral concert inspired by the Brendan Voyage.

 

Wednesday 18th October at 10.30am

Discovery 2 – A special exploration of our two exhibitions, Head Land and Landmarks & Lifeforms, for primary schools, facilitated by Éanna Ní Lamhna with artist Sinead Dineen who will lead us on the tour of the exhibitions and a walk in the park.  This will be followed by a workshop based on both exhibitions facilitated by Éanna and Sinead.  Participating schools are encouraged to explore both exhibitions.

Thursday 19th October at 6.00pm

Performance:  A unique response by Limerick artists including dance artist, Mary Nunan’s response to both exhibitions, will be performed alongside shared readings by poet Jo Slade, Vivienne McKechnie, songs from Kathleen Turner and others, hosted by Lyric FM’s  Liz Nolan.

Discover 4: A visit by Theresa Nanigian to Limerick’s own Milk Market with a look at how it all works and who’s involved.  In the company of Katie Verling and Tom Toomey.

Sunday 19th November at 3.00pm

Making A Living – join us for a storytelling event with renowned storyteller, Jack Lynch who is the English language editor of Timeless Tales (2015), a collection of folktales told by Syrian refugees.  Jack will be in conversation with Razan Ibraheem who is a journalist and advocate for the Syrian community in Ireland.  In this session, she will share her thoughts with Jack on life and daily markets in her home town in pre - civil war Syria.

 

Thursday 23rd November from 6-8pm

We mark the 80th Anniversary of the First Exhibition of Picture which opened on the 23rd November 1937 in the Savoy Cinema, Limerick, with “Known Unknowns”, developed by LCGA’s  Shinnors scholar, Simon Fennessy Corcoran.  The exhibition examines the municipal collection through the distinctive approaches or artists Damien Flood, Daniel Greaney and Nuala O’Sullivan.

The RTE Contempo Quartet perform the Complete Beethoven Cycle, Programme 4 featuring the Beethoven Quartet in C minor, Op.18, No. 4, a newly RTE commissioned work by Deirdre McKay and the Beethoven Quartet in E-flat major, Op.74 "Harp"  *Tickets at the Door €10/€8 

 

Thursday 14th December at 6.00pm

Christmas Rhyme and Reason, join us for seasonal stories and song with ICO children’s projects led by Katherine Barnicutt and featuring young musicians from Limerick Primary Schools, hosted by Liz Nolan of Lyric FM.
